Support Program for Spyrus USB 3.0 Flash Keys
For Windows To Go-Certified and Mac computers
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on March 8, 2013 at 2:46 pmSPYRUS, Inc. announced its support service program to enable booting its Secure Portable Workplace and Portable Workplace for Windows To Go-certified devices on Apple Macintosh computers.
This support program will enable enterprises to support their BYOD initiatives for teleworking, the traveling ‘road warrior,’ temporary workers, and continuity of operations by booting Windows To Go not only from PCs certified to run Windows 7 or Windows 8, but also from Macintosh computers.
SPYRUS Secure Portable Workplace was certified by Microsoft in October 2012 as one of the first hardware encrypting USB 3.0 devices for Windows To Go. The strength of on-board military-grade hardware encryption enables Secure Portable Workplace to withstand attacks from gaining access to information on the device. Patented technology and built-in self checks enforce on-the-fly integrity validation to help enable fast and secure boot-up. Secure Portable Workplace was designed to meet FIPS 140-2 Level 2 and Level 3 certification requirements and implements US Government-approved, next-generation cryptographic algorithms that help protect the device, the data, and the OS.
Windows To Go is a feature in Windows 8 Enterprise that enables enterprises to provision a corporate desktop on a certified external USB 3.0 drive, enabling users to boot and use their full corporate image on PCs certified for use with Windows 7 or Windows 8. And with the announcement of the SPYRUS support program, it will provide service and support allowing users to boot the Windows 8 Enterprise corporate desktop on many Macintosh computers.
Enterprise requirements for SPYRUS customization services and support include use rights for Windows To Go and license to use iMac, MacMini, MacBook Pro, and MacBook Air (including MacBooks with Retina display) running OS X Snow Leopard (10.6) or higher.
As part of the SPYRUS secure ecosystem, Secure Portable Workplace and Portable Workplace USB 3.0 drives are managed by the SPYRUS Enterprise Management System (SEMS) to allow authorized administrators to remotely disable the drives. This provides centralized controls to help protect against data theft or loss.
