U.S. Department of Homeland Security Awarded Promark 3-year Blanket Purchase Agreement
For encrypted USB flash keys
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on March 6, 2013 at 2:51 pmThe U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has awarded Kanguru’s distributor, Promark Technology, Inc., a 3-year Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) for Kanguru’s encrypted USB storage devices and remote management.
The DHS BPA provides a purchasing vehicle to DHS and its government affiliates, including Transportation Security Administration, Customs & Border Protection, United States Secret Service, U.S. Coast Guard, Federal Emergency Management Agency, and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Promark Technology’s DHS BPA will exclusively offer encrypted USB Storage devices from Kanguru Solutions out of Millis, MA. The Kanguru Defender Elite (KRMC) will also be available for agencies intending to remotely manage, update, and track their fleet of secure devices.
DHS has a stated goal of protecting sensitive information from disclosure to unauthorized entities, and requires all government ‘data-in-transit’ and ‘data-at-rest’ to be protected by FIPS 140-2 certified cryptographic modules with hardware-based AES-256 encryption. As part of the Secretary’s Efficiency Review Program, DHS established a department-wide BPA to acquire encrypted USB storage devices that meet these security goals.
The Kanguru Defender Elite is designed to meet government and enterprise security requirements with plug-and-play ease of use.
In addition to FIPS 140-2 Certification,
and hardware encryption, the drive features:
- Onboard Anti-Virus/Anti-Malware – First Year Free
- Strong Password Enforcement Options
- Tamper-Resistance
- IP Range/Domain Restriction
- Customizable Serial Numbers and Engraving
- Cross-Platform Support (Windows, Mac, Linux)
- Remote Management Capabilities
With the addition of KRMC, administrators can manage a fleet of Kanguru Defender devices from anywhere in the world. KRMC includes support for remote wipe and password management, as well as updating, tracking and auditing. This allows security policy standards to be maintained on all devices from a centralized location.
"Kanguru has focused for several years on developing best-of-breed, secure mobile data storage devices to meet or exceed the high standards of the Federal Government," says Don Brown, president and CEO of Kanguru Solutions. "We are extremely proud of this award as an excellent vehicle for wide adoption."
