Object Matrix Adds 10GbE Option
To nearline archive system
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on March 5, 2013 at 2:51 pmObject Matrix Limited, developer of nearline archive systems, has introduced the option of 10GbE interfaces across its MatrixStore Enterprise product line, new pricing structures and an update to its Avid archive solutions.
It has introduced the 10Gb interface to MatrixStore Enterprise nodes and its redundant internal network. The introduction of the faster interfaces allows customers to develop workflows that need to move large volumes of big files in a short amount of time. The initial speeds range from 300MB/s for a single file to 1.8GB/s for multiple streams across a 5 node MatrixStore cluster.
Nick Pearce, co-founder of Object Matrix said: "MatrixStore is and always has been about digital preservation, guaranteeing data availability and authenticity with little or no administration required. Our customers love that strength but they have also been asking us if we can go faster. We are very happy to announce that we can now provide both strength and speed in file based workflows."
Object Matrix also announces a new pricing structure to reflect the falling costs of disk storage in the wider market. The introduction of 4TB HDDs provides more capacity in the same MatrixStore node footprint and also drives down costs. The company is scrapping its entry level 9TB MatrixStore node and is replacing it with the 12TB node. The new pricing introduces an entry-level MatrixStore cluster providing 30TB of RAID-6 protected content for under £18,000. Pricing on the other nodes in the MatrixStore Enterprise range have also been tweaked to reflect the falling cost of storage bringing the cost of fully managed and searchable storage down to a compelling price point.
An update for Object Matrix’s archive plug-in InterConnect, developed to work with Avid Interplay, was also be released.
InterConnect 2.0 continues to be trusted by post-production facilities and broadcasters across Europe to archive content from Avid ISIS to MatrixStore.
The release adds the following functionalities:
- Restore of content to different workspaces
- Intelligent delete functions
- Options on archiving of shared assets
