Peter van Oppen, Board’s Director, Level 3

Served as CEO and COB for ADIC acquired by Quantum.

Level 3 Communications, Inc. announced the appointment of Peter van Oppen to its board of directors.

The appointment brings the total number of board members to 14.

peter_van_oppen_level_3 van Oppen, 59, has been a partner at Trilogy Partnership, a private investment firm focused on technology and telecommunications, since 2006. Prior to joining Trilogy, he served as CEO and COB for Advanced Digital Information Corporation (ADIC), a data storage company, for twelve years, from 1994 through its acquisition by Quantum Corp. in 2006. He currently serves as the COB of trustees and is the former chair of the Investment Committee at Whitman College and serves on the boards of directors of several private companies including Interpoint Corporation, Western Wireless Corporation, Spacelabs Medical, Receptech Corp. and Key Technology. As a public company director, he has participated in several panels related to effective Corporate Governance and was selected as 2007 Corporate Director of the Year by the National Association of Corporate Directors Seattle Northwest Chapter. He continues as a director of numerous private entities, including Basketball Club of Seattle LLC. He was on the board of Isilon Systems, Inc. and  served as an Advisory Board member and as a director of the Seattle Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco.

Member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants on inactive status, he holds a MBA in political science from Whitman College as well as an MBA from Harvard Business School, where he was a Baker Scholar.
