Silicon Mechanics Showed Zstax Open Storage Solution at Scale 11x

Powered by Nexentastor

Silicon Mechanics, Inc. wa be highlighting and demonstrating its zStax open architecture storage solutions based on NexentaStor at SCALE 11x, the Eleventh Annual Southern California Linux Expo, which was held February 22-24, 2013 in Los Angeles, CA, at the Hilton Los Angeles International Airport.

Silicon Mechanics hosted a real-time demonstration of the zStax unified storage appliance, powered by NexentaStor, a fully featured NAS/SAN software platform that provides enterprise storage features at mid-tier prices. Industry expert Tommy Scherer showed how the zStax Highly Available architecture seamlessly handles load failover.

The zStax software-defined storage model is deployed on enterprise, industry standard hardware. Silicon Mechanics relies on Seagate enterprise SAS HDDs, with speeds from 7.2K to 15K RPM, for fast and reliable storage. The zStax unified storage appliance family of products is for applications ranging from archival storage to enterprise tier 1 implementations.

Silicon Mechanics can help customers save 70 to 80% compared to vertically integrated, proprietary storage technologies. The zStax family of storage management solutions delivers capacity, performance, reliable storage, while lowering the TCO for cloud-based storage infrastructures.

"We believe that zStax provides value by scaling more effectively than legacy storage systems. The software-defined storage model allows customers to upgrade as drive and IO technologies evolve over time, instead of locking them into proprietary hardware," said Eva Cherry, CEO and president of Silicon Mechanics. "NexentaStor offers the storage features customers need, and the zStax product line offers the flexibility to meet almost any budget."

Based in Bothell, WA, Silicon Mechanics is an Intel Premier Provider and a Premier member of the AMD Fusion Partner Program.
