Buffalo
Technology Inc. announced an addition to its TeraStation
5000 NAS devices for SMBs, the TeraStation
5000 Anti-Virus.
The 4TB TeraStation
5200 Anti-Virus, 8TB
5400 and 16TB
5400 Rackmount devices are pre-installed with Trend
Micro anti-virus software, and support real-time scanning. This ensures that data
is constantly monitored and, in the case of a virus, an alarm is
raised and infected files are removed and saved to a protected folder
to prevent the virus spreading.
It provides SMBs and enterprises that
are planning to strengthen their security methods with a security
system. The anti-virus function is validated on purchase and there is
no need for extra configuration after setup, giving users an advanced
level of security.
With BYOD currently overhauling the IT
landscape, the TS5000V devices enable IT managers who must abide by
strict corporate security rules to implement a NAS storage system
that meets their security needs and maintains a secure environment.
Viruses from personal and external devices are prevented and only
authenticated users can access the network, protecting corporate
data.
"Secure data storage is
critical to every SMB and enterprise," says Paul Hudson,
sales director for northern Europe at Buffalo. "Cyber
attacks have been on the increase since 2011 with large enterprises
and governments being targeted and the BYOD movement is getting more
popular day by day. Earlier this month it was revealed that two major
power plants in the US had suffered downtime because employees
brought external viruses onto the corporate network on corrupted USB
sticks. The new TS5000V series prevents this sort of malfunction.”
"Server security needs are
increasing and Buffalo has responded to the needs and requests of
both current users and IT managers who couldn’t previously introduce
NAS devices into the workplace due to the lack of an anti-virus
function," he added.
The TS5000V devices are covered by a
five-year license for the Trend Micro anti-virus software in addition
to a three-year Buffalo product warranty.
The new TeraStation Anti-Virus devices
will be available from Buffalo’s distributors in the UK.
