New MagicRAR 8 by Simon King`s Utility Software

MagicRAR 8 from Simon King`s Utilities Group Pty Ltd. is a Windows data compression utility providing transparent, full-disk data compression – enabling users to access all of their files and data as if they were uncompressed, with a significant increase on their bottom line of usable storage space.

When Microsoft introduced their new security model with Windows Vista, an unforeseen side effect caused NTFS compression to miss a significant number of files that would otherwise be compressible. MagicRAR 8 triples built-in NTFS compression by fixing this bug, which is still present in the newer Windows 7, and even the very latest flagship Windows 8 OSs – while preserving full security lock-down on the end-user system, ensuring no compromises are made on system security during storage space increase.

Microsoft’s brand new Surface Pro has come under fire for not providing sufficient storage space, due to the large number of files pre-installed on the Surface Pro. NTFS compression does not help on its own, because a large number of these files are incompressible due to this security bug in Windows. MagicRAR 8 compresses virtually all of the files pre-installed on the Surface Pro, in effect providing more than three times the free storage space compared to Windows itself.

MagicRAR 8 takes advantage of the advanced Surface Pro hardware. While Windows uses only one thread during NTFS compression, MagicRAR 8 uses up to 8 threads, meaning the entire Surface Pro flash storage is compressed up to 8 times faster. That’s more than three times the storage space delivered eight times faster. MagicRAR 8 may be enjoyed on all traditional Windows laptops and desktops, in addition to the Surface Pro. Space savings are especially appreciated by SSD users, where space costs a premium.

MagicRAR 8 offers a suite of archive management utilities in addition to full-disk compression. These include an open-source plug-in stack for future extensibility, Outlook Add-Ins for transparent attachment compression and compressed attachment previews, and a ‘Find Smallest Archive’ Explorer right-click menu option which compresses selected files and folders using all compression algorithms known to MagicRAR, guaranteeing the smallest possible file sizes.
