NextiraOne
LLC. enhanced its cloud solution portfolio by announcing an entry
solution into cloud for the mid-size market.
Called ExpressPod,
the solution is based on NetApp entry-level storage and Cisco server
and switches which NextiraOne will offer for SMB
customers that are beginning to virtualise their IT environments.
NextiraOne will make use of the
ExpressPod capabilities in order to create solutions that will work
with the customer’s existing infrastructure. The company is offering the solution throughout all its European subsidiaries. It is for customers who require a deployment of an
infrastructure solution, because of its deployment and management and
its suitability for various environments – to assist migration from
legacy applications or to deploy desktop virtualisation centrally or
in remote subsidiary offices.
ExpressPod is a bundle of computing,
networking, storage and virtualisation software, as well as cloud
orchestration and management software. It combines Cisco UCS C-Series
servers, NetApp FAS2220 or FAS2240 storage systems, and Cisco Nexus
3048 switches with infrastructure management. Similar to other
FlexPod data center platforms, ExpressPod supports an open ecosystem
of management and hypervisor solutions and is therefore useful for
many applications.
The company has developed expertise in
the deployment of reference designs across all its European
operations. The company provides a set of services to manage the
implementation, from initial assessment, design, delivery and
implementation of solution, to life-cycle management. This gives
customers the combination of technology and the integration
expertise to implement this in any customer environment.
"Many of our customers are
taking the next step into cloud-based solutions and we wanted
something that was affordable and easy to deploy on their behalf in
order to keep costs down," says Aman Khan, MD Europe, data centre and cloud solutions. "ExpressPod is a smaller but
smarter version of FlexPod and is a ‘take-away’ package which we
feel is ideal for the mid-size market because it gives all the
functions and tools needed to implement a private cloud rapidly and
easily. Our customers benefit from the fact that – with our expertise
– we can deploy it quickly and also implement its next-generation
software to manage the complete infrastructure from all devices,
including iPads."
