These systems are aimed at SMEs.
Addressing the growing challenges found in today’s datacentres, the EonStor DS G7i models’ new hardware design includes a new dual-core processor. Compared to the previous model’s single-core processor, this change has led to a 75-80% improvement in performance.
In addition, they are VAAI (vStorage API for Array Integration) ready, supporting features such as hardware-assisted locking*, block zeroing* and full copy* that facilitate higher performance by offloading CPU cycles allowing for a more efficient usage of network resources.
The EonStor DS G7i provides mid-range performance at affordable cost, for performance-demanding applications such as HPC, databases, virtualisation, media editing, broadcasting and cloud datacentres. Its features enable SMEs to meet their increasing data storage demands while staying within an affordable budget.
Thomas Kao, director of product planning at Infortrend, stated: "In the current IT landscape, the demands for higher performance and more features are ever increasing for companies looking to reach their full potential."
He added: "Infortrend’s new EonStor DS G7i models, with their advanced hardware and virtualisation features represent the best choice for SMEs looking to both meet their present IT demands and to prepare for future ones as well."

* Definitions:
- Hardware-assisted Locking: Provides alternative means to protecting the VMFS cluster file system’s meta data
- Block Zeroing: Enables storage arrays to zero out large numbers of blocks to enhance the deployment of large-scale VMs
- Full Copy: Allows storage arrays to make full copies of data within the array without the VMware vSphere host reading and writing the data
