Cristie Replaces End of Life EMC HomeBase
With migration to NBMR
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on January 29, 2013 at 2:44 pmCristie Software Limited is offering EMC HomeBase users a low cost option to migrate to NBMR (Bare Machine Recovery for NetWorke) following EMC’s decision to make HomeBase end of life from 12th August 2012.
The cost of the upgrade is only $100 per license which includes 12 months maintenance. This is often less than the maintenance cost of HomeBase licenses alone and is a discount to the normal list price of NBMR/CBMR of $700 per license. The offer is open to all EMC HomeBase users using either Networker or Avamar backup software and expires on 30th June 2013.
NBMR is designed to integrate with EMC’s NetWorker (formerly Legato) backup software to provide fast BMR capabilities making it a HomeBase replacement. It restores a machine’s OS and applications directly from normal NetWorker backups without additional backup required. This reduces storage and network bandwidth requirements as well as removing the overhead of managing and monitoring an additional backup process. Recovery can be to the original or to new dissimilar hardware or to a virtual machine and is typically completed in less than 10 minutes.
CBMR provides bare machine recovery for Avamar users with all the feature of NBMR but does require a separate backup of the OS files.
