PoINT Storage Manager 4.0

In addition to support of Windows Server 2012 the PoINT Storage Manager 4.0 from PoINT Software & Systems GmbH provides extended file system functionality support for primary storage systems, like Windows NTFS based file server, NetApp FAS and EMC Celerra/VNX.

The existing ‘Compliant Mode’, which specifically prevents modification of archived files has been extended in version 4.0 to allow read/write operations. This new functionality permits archived files/directories to be modified as well as renamed and moved on the primary storage. This means that the file system of the primary storage acts like a standard read/write file system. The archived files are stored with their original content in the archive storage and file modification are archived as a new file version.

The new functionality expands the application opportunities of the PoINT Storage Manager. Users and applications can utilize their primary storage as usual and nevertheless benefit from archiving functionality.

PoINT Jukebox Manager 8.0 (planned release Q2/2013)
The new version 8.0 of the PoINT Jukebox Manager enlarge the functionality of the Dynamic Image Recording Module. ‘Dynamic Image Recording’ is the recording method of the PoINT Jukebox Manager which protects the recording process against media and hardware problems. Version 8.0 expands this module by an extended function for prioritized disc finalization. This allows administrators prompt close and export of discs from the jukebox although during running write processes.

Furthermore the new release provides
the following hardware related functions:

‘Packs’ support for DISC ArXtor Series including online export/import as well as offline management
Extended presentation of HIT Offline Rack in the admin GUI by displaying an additional ‘drawers’

Additionally the new version 8.0 provides support for Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012.

PoINT Publisher NG 4.0
The new release of PoINT Publisher NG 4.0 supports Windows 8.
