Hyve Solutions Contributes Open Rack, 2U, 15 3.5-Inch HDDs
Storage design concept of OCP community
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on January 28, 2013 at 2:53 pmHyve Solutions, a division of SYNNEX Corporation and a provider of Open Compute Project (OCP) solutions, has created a storage design concept for the next generation OCP platform, Open Rack, and is contributing the storage design concept to the OCP community.
The high-density design is a subject of the OCP Summit Hackathon, in which Hyve Solutions’ engineers was participating during the summit.
The design concept is 2 OpenU high and can accommodate 15 3.5" drives. It addresses many points along the storage spectrum, including capacity/bulk storage, cloud storage, and cold storage. It is form-factor compatible with the Open Rack compute node and designed to occupy similar space in an Open Rack innovation zone.
"Hyve Solutions has been committed to supporting the OCP community from its inception in various ways," stated Steve Ichinaga, SVP and GM of Hyve Solutions. "In the spirit of OCP’s openness and collaboration, Hyve Solutions is contributing our Open Rack storage design concept to the community to help continue to develop the most efficient computing infrastructure possible. We see it as a platform for future innovations to develop more features and functionality from those within the community."
Attendees of the Open Compute Summit in Santa Clara, California from January 16-17 were able to see the designs during the OCP Summit Hackathon along with other server and storage designs in the Hyve Solutions booth.
