Sans Digital EliteSTOR 2.5-Inc SFF Rackmount Enclosures Capable of 2.1GB/s read in RAID-5

Sans Digital, Inc. announced that it’s line of compact rack mountable enclosures for 2.5-inch HDDs have reached a milestone with performance tests reaching over 24Gb/s using dual 6G SAS connections on the EliteSTOR 2U 24-bay ES224X6+B enclosure together with the LSI Corp.‘s 9286-8E (External SAS RAID HBA) and 24 x SAS or SATA SSD hard drives (OCZ Deneva SSD SATAIII (D2CSTK251M21-0240) or OCZ Technology Group, Inc.‘s Talon SSD SAS 6G (TL2CSAK2G2M1X-0240).

Based on the EliteSTOR product line, the 2.5" inch hard drive enclosure solutions features redundant hot-swappable power supplies, hot-swappable hard drive trays, and any more enterprise level features.

Capable housing anywhere from 8, 16, or 24, 2.5" inch SATA, SAS, or SSD HDDss on a single compact enclosure, it offers reliability, and performance at competitive price.

With LSI PCIe 3.0 RAID controller card and SATA 6G or SAS 6G OCZ SSD, it reach performance of ~3,000MB/s in RAID-0, and ~2,300MB/s write and ~2100MB/s read in RAID-5 application.

The EliteSTOR ES108X+B, ES108X6+B, ES216X6+B, and ES224X6+B are all SAS JBOD rackmounts for high capacity storage solution specially designed for 2.5" HDDs with up to 15mm in height. Utilizing the SAS and 6G SAS expander technology (6G SAS Expander available on the ES108X6+B, ES216X6+B, and ES224X6+B models only) provides over 2,400MB/s of bandwidth to fulfill demanding applications. Performance varies depending on model and amount of HDDs used.

The built-in 6G SAS expander allow for multiple daisy chained EliteSTOR rackmounts, zoning, and single or dual cable connections to the host (dual SAS cables allows for faster performance and added high availability). Also included are fan, voltage and temperature monitoring and alarms for live notifications.

The EliteSTOR ES108X+B, ES108X6+B, ES216X6+B, and ES224X6+B supports 2.5" SATA, 6Gb SAS HDDs, and 6Gb SATA/SAS SSD and is also backwards compatible with 3Gbps 2.5" HDDs.

All models support the SAS technology which enables the user to use multiple 2.5" SAS, SATA, SSD drives using one mini-SAS cable. All necessary hardware comes standard including mini-SAS cable, HDDs tray modules and built-in mounting rail.

The EliteSTOR 2.5" hard drive enclosures is a storage expansion solution for servers or high performance video editing workstations.

Redundant power supply comes standard on ES216X6+B and ES224X6+B, and single power supply models are available for (ES216X6+BS and ES224X6+BS) general use.

The EliteSTOR 1U, 8-bays, JBODs consist of ES108X+B (SAS/SATA to 2 mini-SAS), ES108X6+B (SAS/ SATA to SAS expansion) which gives the customer the choice of non-expandable or expandable SAS connections for their SAS or SATA 2.5" HDDs.

For the larger capacity EliteSTOR 2U 16-bay JBOD consist of the ES216X6+B SAS/SATA to SAS Expander and the 2U 24-bay ES224X6+B SAS/SATA to SAS expander.

Both JBOD enclosures come standard with SAS expansion capabilities which enable the user to daisy chain multiple units providing a way to expand data capacity.
