CommVault Simpana 9 Earns U.S. Army Certificate
And validated by National Institute of Standards and Technology
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on January 21, 2013 at 2:45 pmCommVault Systems, Inc. announced that its Simpana 9 data and information management software has received the Certificate of Networthiness (CoN) from the U.S. Army Network Enterprise Technology Command.
The CoN accreditation involves an extensive assessment and ensures Simpana 9 software, built on CommVault’s Solving Forward architecture, meets or exceeds U.S. Army requirements for reliability, security, architecture and integration with the Army Enterprise Infrastructure Network which includes the National Guard, Army Reserve and several DoD organizations.
Government agencies have long relied on CommVault to help them meet their data management challenges by providing integrated capabilities in a single software platform including backup and recovery, archive, deduplication, snapshot integration and search across any application – whether physical, virtual or the cloud – from the data center to the edge. With Simpana 9 software, federal, state and local governments can transform how they protect, manage and access their data to increase efficiency, enable business agility and reduce risk.
In addition, the National Institute of Standards and Technology has validated Simpana 9 software to be in compliance with Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 140-2. The standard ensures Simpana 9 software uses sound security practices, such as approved, strong encryption algorithms and methods. As organizations increasingly demand that data at rest be encrypted to protect against loss or theft, FIPS 140-2 validation certifies that Simpana 9 software meet the U.S. federal government requirements for quality and security.
"Government agencies are adopting Simpana 9 software to simplify data management, protection and access for their IT initiatives, such as moving applications to private clouds, consolidating data centers and managing a mobile workforce," said Brian Brockway , VP of product management at CommVault. "Securing managed data in compliance with these DoD certifications validates CommVault’s commitment to delivering the most reliable, robust and scalable data management solution to meet the strict requirements of U.S. government agencies."
"Our customers look to us to provide them with industry-leading, highly secure and cost-effective data management solutions," said David McLaughlin , CEO at Blue River Information Technology, a government technology provider and CommVault PartnerAdvantage partner. "Today’s announcement further demonstrates the supportability, compatibility and sustainability of CommVault’s technology innovations and will allow us to accelerate the implementation process for government customers as their trusted advisors."
