Huawei SSD Solutions Accelerate Oracle Database
Reduce transaction response time by "up to 82%"
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on January 17, 2013 at 2:58 pmHuawei Technologies Co., Ltd. launched Performance Acceleration Solutions for the Oracle Database, which seeks to address core business performance bottlenecks for enterprise customers.
The storage industry is going through change brought on by SSD, a field that Huawei has explored since 2007. The company has developed many core SSD technologies – including the ASIC-based SSD controller, wear-leaving algorithm, SmartCache software, and HA architecture – and with the successive releases of PCIe-based SSD cards, SAS SSD disks, and the high-performing solid state storage Dorado, Huawei has also designed a series of application solutions that are used by enterprises.
Performance Acceleration Solutions for the Oracle Database apply hot data migration technology, based on its integrated storage T series and high-performance SSS Dorado, in coordination with Oracle Automatic Storage Management and flash cache features. The series reduces transaction response time by up to 82% and data analysis time by up to 72%, increasing concurrent usage by up to 23 times (Tests are compared to traditional storage – hard disk array – and are performed using industry standards-based workloads respectively on a traditional storage with 48 hard disks and a Dorado5100 storage with 48 SLC SSDs.) With this technology, users are able to complete more business transactions and improve economic efficiency per time unit.
As a Platinum level member of Oracle Partner Network (OPN), Huawei has contributed to Oracle’s Validated Configurations program for Oracle Linux and Oracle VM since 2006. Huawei’s integrated storage OceanStor T series, the high-performance solid state storage Dorado, virtual gateway VIS series and cluster NAS N8000 have been certified as part of Oracle Validated Configurations.
"Huawei has worked effectively to develop and deliver pre-tested, validated, and production-ready configurations running Oracle Linux and Oracle VM through the Oracle Validated Configuration and Hardware qualification programs. Oracle is pleased to see that Huawei is bringing better tested, more integrated, and fully supported solutions, to our mutual customers," said Wim Coekaerts, SVP, Linux and Virtualization Engineering, Oracle.
"Making IT simple and businesses more agile is a goal Huawei is committed to pursuing," said Fan Ruiqi, president of Storage Product Line, Huawei. "To achieve this goal, we not only devote ourselves to developing reliable and high-performing products, but also to expediting the compatibility process with top manufacturers in the industry and working to continually optimize integrated solutions. Huawei Performance Acceleration Solutions for the Oracle Database bring users more agile application and simpler maintenance. We look forward to our continued work with Oracle and to bringing our customers more valuable solutions."
