Rocstor: Hiddenroc Internal Encrypted Drive
Replaces 2.5-inch internal HDD/SSD in laptop.
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on January 7, 2013 at 2:59 pmRocsecure, a division of Rocstorage, Inc., is announcing its Hiddenroc internal encrypted drives. This drive replaces the 2.5" internal drive in a PC laptop.
Hiddenroc is a secure internal drive designed to fit most PC laptops. It is secured with AES-256 CBC real-time hardware encryption FIPS and NIST validated cryptographic modules being user defined with single or optional two-factor authentication.
Hiddenroc is a 2.5" form factor storage encryption disk that is designed for use in most notebooks. Containing an internal micro-SATA drive and a hardware-based cryptographic module that encrypts all data written into the disk, it will provide Full Disk Encryption (FDE). It encrypts every single sector of the drive transparently, without any loss in disk performance.
Hiddenroc is a drop-in and easy-to-install replacement for standard 2.5" notebook drives and does not require any additional software drivers or applications to be installed.
Users are assured that all the data on their hard drive is protected from unauthorized access in the event that the notebook is lost or stolen.
The Rocsecure Hiddenroc Ruggedized internal drives are versatile, real-time, hardware encrypted storage solution with FIPS (US Federal Information Processing Standard) 140-2 Level 3 Cryptographic Engine validated for physical security. It offers security-sensitive users a range of NIST certified DES (Data Encryption Standard) and AES encrypted algorithms. Hiddenroc 2.5" slim drives are designed with AES-256 bit real-time hardware data encryption security performance which intercept, interpret, translate and relay SATA data commands to and from disk drives in ‘real-time’. Hiddenroc product lines are designed with new shock-absorbent Damper Strip protection.
Special Features:
- Every single bit of the drive sectors is encrypted
- Pure hardware solution
- No need for software installation upgrades or patches
- Pre-boot authentication
- Supports authentication using USB cryptographic token for two-factor authentication
- Encryption: AES-256 bit, CBC Mode , NIST and 140-2 Cryptographic Engine validated, hardware based (not a software imbedded in a chip), real-time (no down time in encryption or decryption), no software required
- Robust aluminum casing
- Enhanced shock-absorbent casing despite its small size
- Incorporates SATA Hard disks or SSD Drives
Benefits:
- Data At Rest (DAR)
- Zero performance degradation (real-time encryption and decryption)
- Data protection against theft and loss
- Total transparency to user
- Ease of installation and maintenance
- Lower TCO
- Strong hard disk access control
- Optional two-factor authentication
Regulatory Compliance
Hiddenroc combines notebook data encryption and pre-boot authentication to allow organizations to better protect and control access to their sensitive data, thus offering compliance with regulations such as Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Gramm-Leach-Bliley (GLB) Act, Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX), EU Data Protection Directive, FISMA and Japan’s Personal Information Protection Act.
Pre-boot Authentication
Hiddenroc authenticates the user every time the PC powers on. The PC will only boot into the OS on the attached HDD upon successful user authentication. Hiddenroc’s other models offer two authentication modes.
Single-Factor Authentication
In this mode of authentication, the user is prompted for a password at the pre-boot stage after power-on. The device grants access to the user if the correct password is presented.
Two-Factor Authentication
In this mode, the user is prompted for Key-Crypt USB cryptographic token (something you have) as well as the PIN associated with the token (something you know). The device grants access only if the correct token and PIN is presented.
