Unitex
Corporation starts to sell IP
surveillance camera LTO tape archiving system TapeView MX for
Mobotix cameras to Japanese and overseas customers.
Mobotix
Corporation is a large IP surveillance camera
manufacturer.
In recent years, the surveillance
camera industry is requested to record the higher-resolution image
longer time period as a trend of digitization. The system is required
to prepare a large capacity HDD to store because long-term storage
megapixel image file size is large. In this case, big installation
space cost may occur. Also, there are many concerns such as space and
cost to prepare RAID environment and cost to build periodical backup
of large amounts of data against crash of HDD.
The large images taken by megapixel
Mobotix camera are compressed by Mobocomp image compression software
to change smaller image capacity. Then, TapeView MX archives the data
to LTO. LTO has search/playback
function of recorded images as standard function. Since the system
uses the LTO tapes which do not require any electricity during
storage, it reduces the overall cost for storage and can store long
period such as 30 years.
LTO after recorded can be
transported physically.
Therefore, you can manage the archived data centrally such as in the
headquarters. By using TapeView MX together with a note PC and LT0-5
USB drive, the system enables search and playback of managed
tape
Since it implemented LTFS which has
partitioning function, it accomplished ‘Visualization of thumbnails
of archived image’ and ‘Operability to playback only images which you
want to playback’ similar to HDD system.
The software is pre-installed, so you can you use
it just after purchase if the surveillance cameras are installed.
LTFS is a file system for the
tape devices. It divides the LTO tape into data recording area and
index area. Also data in the data recording area is written as
write-once. Therefore, data recording area which was already recorded
cannot be changed. Index area is overwritten with the update
of file system, and records the latest status.
Merit for the users:
- Enables long-term storage of recorded
data which is archived.
- Compared to HDD, storage space can be
reduced.
- Transportation of the tape. Can be
centrally managed.
- Not affected by the conditions of the
data collected and the number of cameras installed.
- By thumbnail management of the
recording data, visualization of the active work becomes available.
- Management of recorded tape media is
possible by a bar code reader.
- Eco-friendly system:
consumption does not increase even if amount of recorded data is
increased.
