Imation in Online Backup

ONE version at $10/month for 100GB

Imation Corp. announced its Backup Services, cloud-based online backup for secure business data protection.

Available in the United States and Canada, Imation ONE Backup Service safeguards desktops and laptops, and Imation PRO Backup Service protects servers, desktops and laptops.

Both ONE and PRO offer cloud storage to meet the backup and recovery needs of businesses.

They deliver backup and recovery, using data efficiency and compression techniques and patented software to minimize data size, number of files, and bandwidth impact. The result is a service to provide a failsafe for businesses without any data protection in place, or to fit within a tiered storage architecture by adding an offsite layer.

"Many businesses still don’t back up their data, despite the obvious risks of possible data loss. Cloud backup services provide one option, yet many businesses are reluctant to rely on cloud storage for sensitive data," said Tom Gelson, director, business development, Imation. "Imation ONE and Imation PRO online backup and recovery services deliver a unique combination of affordable and scalable backup with comprehensive security features to support full integration into a company’s IT data protection strategy."

Features of ONE and PRO include:

  • Duplicate backup for enhanced data protection;
  • Military-grade encryption, to prevent data breaches and support regulatory compliance; and,
  • An easy-to-use management portal for web-based restore, lock-down, and reporting.

ONE Backup Service delivers unlimited backup for business data on all company computers for one low price per month. The service is applicable for laptops and desktops running Windows XP and newer Windows OSs.

PRO Backup Service delivers online backup for business servers, with mission-critical protection against accidental data deletion or catastrophic data loss. It works on all Windows-based desktops, laptops and business servers using Windows Server 2003 and newer.

"Two of the hottest trends in data protection are the better use of backup appliances and the inclusion of a cloud-based tier in one’s broader data protection strategy," said Jason Buffington, senior data protection analyst at ESG. "Between Imation’s pedigree in tape, its DataGuard disk-based appliances, and now a cloud-service, it is apparent that Imation wants to play at every tier of data protection."

Imation ONE and Imation PRO are available in the United States and Canada via registration and installation through Imation’s website. The services are priced on a monthly subscription basis.
