NovaBACKUP Beats Symantec Backup Exec and Acronis Backup and Recovery
"Completing tasks in less than half the time", said NovaStor
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on December 13, 2012 at 3:00 pmNovaStor GmbH announced that, in real-world comparisons of common backup configurations,
NovaBACKUP beats Symantec Backup Exec as well as Acronis Backup and Recovery by
completing tasks in less than half the time.
NovaBACKUP Achieves
Backup Speeds in a
Live Environment
NovaBACKUP 14.0 employs a new backup engine
and intelligent compression algorithms to ensure short backup windows. To
confirm the speed advantage, NovaBACKUP Business Essentials was tested under
identical conditions as Acronis Backup & Recovery and Symantec Backup Exec.
Tests were conducted on a system with 16GB
RAM and an Intel Core CPU. Default settings like Volume Shadow Services were
enabled; compression and verification activated. To reflect typical business
processes, data was backed up to a USB drive as the target backup device.
In a Windows 2008 R2 Server environment
NovaBACKUP’s performance demonstrated a superior data transfer rate. Where
Acronis Backup & Recovery required 28 minutes and Symantec Backup Exec 2012
needed 26 minutes, NovaBACKUP Business Essentials completed the backup of 123GB
to a USB 3.0 HD in only 12 minutes.
Short Backup Windows Increase
Productivity
and Data Security
Protecting digital assets is an essential
part of a network administrator’s responsibility in today’s corporate
environment. Even with growing data loads the task must be
fulfilled outside of regular office hours so as not to disturb daily operations.
If this is not possible, system load caused by backup processes should be
reduced to a minimum.
An enhanced backup speed is therefore
crucial to a smooth user experience. By creating the least impact upon
resources, data protection processes function nearly unnoticeable to the
average user.
