IceWEB in Negotiations with NovaStor
To act as OEM hardware supplier
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on December 13, 2012 at 2:59 pmIceWEB, Inc. is in advanced discussions to formalize an OEM hardware supplier agreement with NovaStor Software AG.
The terms of the transaction are being finalized with a launch eyed for early 1Q2013.
"We are excited to provide our complete storage hardware and software solutions in an OEM relationship with NovaStor which will move the IceWEB technology and the IceSTORM interface into their thousands of customers in the US. The terms contemplated in the relationship will allow us to leverage our manufacturing, product support and supply chain expertise as well as enable us to market additional services such as our recently announced IceWEB Cloud Services, and support contracts to this new customer base," said Rob Howe, IceWEB CEO.
"We are equally excited about this new opportunity to extend our brand presence through this new hardware and services relationship with IceWEB," said Mike Andrews, MD of NovaStor. "This approach allows us to maximize the benefit of our new Data Center version for our customers by providing not only purpose-built appliances from IceWEB for them, but also by being able to add the Cloud component. We see this as a truly synergistic relationship between our two fast-growing companies."
The ease of plug and play deployment, simplicity of management and cost-effectiveness of the combined solution works to customer’s advantage. The system can be implemented in less than one hour, and with the addition of the cloud component, the solution rivals any backup storage capability in the market.
Hybrid cloud based backup solutions leverage the Internet like an online backup solution does, but they also place an appliance at your location. Companies use an appliance that receives the local backup and stores it. It then replicates this backup across the Internet to the IceWEB cloud storage resources. This not only minimizes the performance impact of the local server during backup; since backups are to a local appliance they happen much faster. Having a local appliance also addresses the local restore issues. If the data is not stored locally it can take days to restore data from the cloud. Having a Hybrid Backup system however helps SMB customer ensure that there data is safe from, fire or natural disaster.
Hybrid Cloud Backup for the SMB addresses the shortcomings in both on-premise backup as well as online backup. It provides a way to protect data locally while leveraging the cloud for long-term storage and disaster recovery.
