Bull Launches Pay-Per-Use Data Protection Service
Combining customer backup infrastructures and remote operation from French firm
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on December 12, 2012 at 2:57 pmBull reinforces its Le cloud by Bull [Link in French] offer by announcing a pay-per-use data protection service combining on-customer-premise backup infrastructures and remote operation from Bull service centers – StoreWay Backup Agility.
Private cloud approach
StoreWay Backup Agility helps organizations transform and optimize their data management systems. As IT organizations increasingly seek to focus on delivering core-business value, data protection continues to be a major burden with a combination of factors making data protection increasingly complex, expensive and critical such as data loss or inaccessibility, increased data volumes, widespread deployment of virtual server environments and constantly evolving legal and regulatory environment.
Bull enables IT departments to move towards a secure and customized cloud computing model through an end-to-end methodology covering:
- Design of the transformation plan
- Definition of the service levels and reference technical architecture
- Implementation and migration
- Management and control of operations
Through StoreWay Backup Agility, organizations can outsource the ownership and operation of their backup infrastructure, whilst retaining control through SLA agreements and an on-premise, remotely administered backup infrastructure ensuring that sensitive data remains in the organization. Bull accompanies IT departments with end-to-end support, single point of contact and added value services such as HA operation and application maintenance.
Philippe Miltin, Bull EVP of Computing Solutions, explains: "With Le cloud by Bull, we respond to the key challenges of the enterprise cloud by aligning all of Bull’s expertise to offer highly value added solutions. With StoreWay Backup Agility, Bull supports IT departments in the transformation of data management systems by enabling organizations to outsource the protection of their data and to refocus their resources on initiatives that deliver business value. This new offer reinforces Bull’s ability to answer the key challenges of IT transformation – agility, security, performance and cost control."
Storeway backup Agility helps
Coventry University grow IT Services
Coventry University in the UK has chosen StoreWay Backup Agility to protect their data assets on the university campus, with the added benefit of replication to Bull’s data center for DR purposes.
The data protection service in place meets the governance requirements of the university, but the added flexibility and agility of the solution has also opened the opportunity to provide IT capacity and services for surrounding SME’s, schools, hospitals and local authorities.
"We were attracted by Bull’s proposal to split the storage capacity and manage it for us across two sites, which we saw it as the best option in terms of efficiently managing risk," said Stephen Booth, head of Central Computing Services at Coventry University. "Bull’s vision of the evolution to a service-based IT infrastructure is one that fits perfectly with our own plans for a step-by-step move to a cloud-based environment."
