For UK public sector
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on December 11, 2012 at 3:09 pmArkivum Limited, in cloud-based digital archiving, has been approved as an official supplier for G-Cloud ii, the second iteration of the UK Government’s procurement framework for cloud services available to public sector buyers through the CloudStore.
The aim of the G-Cloud Programme , which was first unveiled in February 2012, is to provide a more flexible and competitive marketplace for the public sector, offering a range of services provided by SMBs. G-Cloud has been developed to make the procurement process easier and more efficient for government departments and vendors alike.
Arkivum A-Stor Archiving service can now be procured through the framework to deliver archiving solutions for a broad range of government organisations and provides significant time and cost-savings.
Jim Cook, CEO, Arkivum said: "The dictates of the current economic climate demand more-for-less and no sector faces greater scrutiny than national and local Government. From this perspective, A-Stor is well-suited to public sector customers looking for long-term data archiving services. It offers a very low TCO, 100% guaranteed data retention, support for EU compliance standards and its data centres are located within the UK. Arkivum is able to help departments stretch their IT budgets by storing greater volumes of data with a lower investment, underpinned by the financial flexibility of a subscription or capital model."
About the G-Cloud
The G-Cloud is an iterative programme of work to facilitate the adoption of cloud computing which will deliver fundamental changes in the way the public sector procures and operates ICT. The strategy aims to achieve large, cross government economies of scale; deliver ICT systems that are flexible and responsive to demand; take advantage of new technologies; and allow government to procure in a way that encourages a dynamic and responsive supplier marketplace and supports emerging suppliers.
