The software will bring
ElephantDrive’s storage backup module to laptops, desktops, and servers that
are underserved by the other cloud storage providers. The support for Linux
allows the company to be one of the few cloud storage providers to be
cross-platform.

"Linux users are technologically savvy, and much more likely to have a
mix of devices that run other OSs as well,
" said Jai Dharap, VP of
Technology at ElephantDrive. "We are
excited about providing suite of software and a single account that can help
them enable cloud storage across Linux, Windows, and Mac OS devices – at a
price point that makes sense.
"

The Linux client leverages
years of R&D from the company’s embedded NAS solutions. In order to support
partnerships with NAS manufacturers, the software was running on a variety of
Linux kernels and designed to be managed from a web-based console. Beginning
with Debian based distributions, Linux users and server admins can have access
to a tool previously reserved for enterprise customers.

ElephantDrive for Linux can be
used for both new and existing accounts, tying into web backup management.
Linux files are managed with the same SSL transfer and 256-bit AES encryption
procedure.

To welcome Linux customers, the
company announced that the first 100 new paid accounts using the
Linux client will receive the first two months of storage and backup free.
