Dot Hill Re-Appointed to NSSA Framework

National Server and Storage Agreement for UK education sector

Dot Hill Systems Corp. announced its re-appointment to a prestigious university and college procurement framework known as NSSA (the National Server and Storage Agreement).

Introduced by the Southern Universities Purchasing Consortium (SUPC), the framework offers all universities, HE/FE colleges, and affiliated member institutions the opportunity to procure from accredited suppliers which have already pre-tendered in the knowledge that pricing is competitive and without the requirement to go through time-consuming international EU tendering processes.

Dot Hill was first appointed to the NSSA framework in 2007; due to the consistent quality and cost-effectiveness of its solutions, coupled with tailored services provided with support from accredited UK resellers, the company has been appointed to the framework for another three years.

Warren Reid, director of marketing, EMEA at Dot Hill, said: "There has been a steady growth in orders from the education sector during our appointment to the NSSA framework and our re-appointment is extremely important to our strategic direction in the UK. The launch of the Dot Hill AssuredSAN 4000 and Pro 5000 series could bring further growth, as they have been specifically designed for Big Data environments such as universities. These new storage solutions bring higher levels of performance and the added innovative technology of real-time auto-tiering found in the AssuredSAN Pro 5000 Series, which provides significant performance improvements for dynamic workloads."

He added: "Dot Hill is committed to providing NSSA members with storage solutions that best suit their needs in a very competitive manner through a deep understanding of the education and research sector."

The NSSA framework covers the supply, support/maintenance and delivery of Intel, AMD or equivalent based enterprise and industry standard servers, storage/backup solutions and associated management hardware and software.

SUPC is acting as lead organization on behalf of its members and also for members of the Higher Education Purchasing Consortium for Wales (HEPCW), the London Universities Purchasing Consortium (LUPC), the North West Universities Purchasing Consortium (NWUPC), the North Eastern Universities Purchasing Consortium (NEUPC), and the Advanced Procurement for Universities and Colleges (APUC Limited).

The previous agreement has seen expenditure of £110,000,000 to all NSSA framework providers combined over a three-year period.
