Retailer Aeon Becomes Distributor of Transcend

Transcend Information, Inc. announces a distribution partnership with AEON Co., Ltd., Japan’s largest retail channel.

Expected to stimulate Transcend memory card sales in the fourth quarter and catch the year-end shopping season, the collaboration with AEON cements Transcend’s commitment to developing and supporting the Japan market.

AEON Co., Ltd., the holding company of AEON Group, is Japan’s leading chain of General Merchandise Stores (GMS). In addition to its core GMS, AEON is also active in supermarkets, specialty and convenience store operations, shopping centre development, and credit card business.

AEON currently has 2,349 stores across Japan, and reached their highest ever operating revenue of ¥5.2 trillion in fiscal year 2011.

The new partnership will see AEON distributing Transcend memory cards, including the 16GB Class 10 and Class 4 microSDHC cards in its stores across Japan. As the trend of smartphones and tablets continues to grow, AEON’s prime in-store placement of microSDHC memory cards will increase consumer awareness of products that enhance their mobile device user experience.
