Synology: 6Gb SAS and SATA Enterprise NAS With SSDs, Up to 424TB

Synology, Inc. launched RackStation RS10613xs+, an enterprise NAS server with performance of 400,000 read IOPS and scalability of up to 106 drives, plus layers of reliability for service continuity.

The RS10613xs+ supports SAS/SATA 6G interface and SSD drives, and is scalable up to 424TB capacity when connected with eight RX1213sas expansion units. Powered by Xeon Quad Core 3.3 GHz CPU and 8GB ECC RAM upgradable to 32GB, it reaches more than 2,000MB/s read throughput in RAID-5 via supported dual 10GbE connections. Additionally, the implementation of SSD cache technology optimizes its performance of random read-intensive workloads, increasing reading IOPS by over 50%. The built-in AES New Instructions accelerate encryption performance and strengthen data security.

Synology HA transfers services of the unavailable server to its surviving partner in the cluster without any noticeable interruption to its services. RAID group and proactive global hot sparing protect data against disk failures.

To ensure system uptime, both RS10613xs+ and RX1213sas expansion units come with redundant power supplies and system fans, and are connected with one another via dual data transmission.

These redundancy mechanisms work in tandem with the upcoming Synology Replacement Service Europe (SRSE) to reinforce the level of data protection. In the event of unexpected component failures, SRSE provides timely service to keep the system running by shipping replacement products the next business day.

The RS10613xs+ offers storage solutions for major virtualization servers by taking the lead to achieve certifications of Windows Sever 2012 with Hyper-V and vSphere 5 VAAI, as well as supporting XenServer environment.

The RS10613xs+ runs DiskStation Manager (DSM) 4.1, the OS of every Synology DiskStation and RackStation. DSM 4.1 provides features to boost productivity and simplify tasks, all on a sleek interface optimized for multitasking.
