NetApp Integrates AvePoint’s Technology for SharePoint

NetApp, Inc. and AvePoint, Inc., provider of governance and infrastructure management solutions for SharePoint, announced the integration of AvePoint’s technology and user interface in the latest version of NetApp SnapManager 7.0 for SharePoint.

SnapManager 7.0 for SharePoint helps reduce storage costs, improve scalability, and streamline data management of SharePoint 2010 environments. With this unified platform and integration with AvePoint’s DocAve product, customers have the complete data management and storage optimization for SharePoint.

Benefits and features of SnapManager 7.0 for SharePoint, which now features a redesigned, ribbon-based user interface to simplify and automate SharePoint management, include:

• Scalability and intelligent management: Improve scalability of SharePoint deployments by storing and managing large data files on networked-attached storage (CIFS/SMB). Scale SharePoint infrastructure up or out with clustered Data ONTAP. Simplify administration of SharePoint environment by using the automated data management and protection features in SnapManager 7.0 for SharePoint through a simple graphical user interface or by developing custom scripts by using Windows PowerShell 2.0 cmdlets.
• Reduced Storage Costs: Automatically place files and binary large objects (BLOBs) in existing hierarchial storage management (HSM) systems. With SnapManager 7.0 for SharePoint, user have the flexibility to schedule the movement of files by group, site collection, file type, size, or access time. Alternatively, as users upload documents of a specified size, they can automatically be placed in HSM storage. Further reduce storage costs with clustered Data ONTAP features such as deduplication, compression, and thin provisioning.
• Data Protection: Protect entire SharePoint environments, including all web applications, databases, front-end web elements, and content residing HSM systems with full-fidelity backup including all metadata, security settings, version histories, and customized layouts.
