LTFS Library Edition Software for IBM Libraries
With support for Windows Server 2008 and select LTO-6 drives
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on November 15, 2012 at 2:49 pmLTFS Library Edition V2.1.2 from IBM Corp. for IBM Systems Storage Tape Libraries is enhanced with Windows Server 2008 OS support to complement the Linux OSs previously announced for IBM System Storage.
LTFS Library Edition V2.1.2 also now includes support for IBM LTO LTO-6 Tape Drives used in System Storage TS3500, TS3310, TS3200, and TS3100 Tape Libraries, and the TS2900 Tape Autoloader.
It is available for IBM System Storage TS3500 (M/T 3584), TS3310 (M/T 3576), TS2900 (M/T 3572), and TS3100 or TS3200 (M/T 3573).
LTFS Library Edition enables mounting of the library as a file system and indexing of data, while the file manager manages the automation and provides OS level access to all the content in the library. It is based on the LTFS format specification, enabling tape library cartridges to be interchangeable with cartridges written with the LTFS Single Drive Edition.
It supports IBM tape library systems.
LTFS Library Edition software is required to be installed on customer servers supporting RedHat Enterprise Linux R5.5, R5.6, R5.7, R5.8, R6.1, R6.2, SLES 11 SP1, SP2, or Windows Server 2008 R2 with connection and support of IBM tape libraries. It is available on a limited basis through your IBM marketing representative.
Key prerequisites
- An IBM LTO LTO-6 or -5 Tape Drive, or an IBM TS1140 Enterprise Tape Drive in selected IBM Tape Libraries with IBM LTFS Library Edition V2.1.2 software
- Generally supported with these OSs, but some functional enhancements supported with selected OSs only: Linux RHEL 5.5, 5.6, 5.7, 5.8, 6.1, or 6.2 installed; SLES 11 SP1 or SP2; Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1
