Pro-Vision Doubles Storage for Mobile Video Surveillance Systems
With 128GB SDXC card
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on November 13, 2012 at 2:40 pmPRO-VISION Video Systems, Inc. added a 128GB SDXC card to their mobile digital video recording systems lineup.
While most mobile video recording manufacturers that utilize solid state SD card systems carry between 16 and 32GB of storage, PRO-VISION has more than doubled the recording capacity to allow school districts to investigate incident claims when there was a reporting delay of several weeks, to over a month. The increased data storage allows more video to be recorded before the unused portions are written over again with new video.
"Companies that build school and transit bus, police car, and commercial vehicle recording systems either utilize less reliable hard drive based systems, bulky solid state drives, or solid state drives with removable SD card storage," says marketing manager Sam Lehnert.
Unlike hard drive systems that rely on moving parts – similar to a CD or DVD – to record data, solid state systems only have circuit boards – like an MP3 player – and are therefore much more reliable when mounted inside a moving bus, motorcycle, patrol car, truck, or other vehicle.
"We build solid state systems because they are more reliable, simple, and affordable than other types of mobile video recording systems – not to mention their compact size," says Lehnert.
Currently, PRO-VISION recording systems include a 64GB card and provide the 128GB card as an optional upgrade. It has an lineup of rugged, reliable school and transit bus cameras, police in-car cameras, and commercial vehicle cameras that pair with mobile digital video recorders to increase safety and reduce liability in a variety of fleets.
