EVault Signs Agreement With Microsoft

To offer cloud-connected backup service on Windows Azure

EVault, Inc., a Seagate company, announced the EVault backup and recovery platform will now take advantage of the Windows Azure cloud platform.

In conjunction with this initiative, EVault will be expanding development, sales and marketing collaboration around Azure. EVault Endpoint Protection (EVault EP), a cloud-connected backup, recovery and data security solution for endpoint devices, is available on Windows Azure. EVault EP is targeted at enterprises, as well as midmarket businesses.

EVault EP automates laptop backup recovery and provides secure capabilities including local file encryption, port access control and, if a laptop is lost or stolen, remote data deletion and device tracing to help control valuable data spread across mobile workforces. It enables organizations to secure data on PC and laptop, ensuring critical corporate information is safe when a device disappears. The endpoint data is automatically backed up to the cloud and can be recovered by users themselves. EVault EP offers policy-based, centralized administration and self-service management to help IT attain that perfect balance of corporate control and end user independence.

Businesses are looking for flexible, cost-effective data backup and recovery solutions. Our expanded relationship with Microsoft represents the increased demand for more integrated and simple to use cloud-connected storage services that satisfy an organization’s unique requirements,” said Terry Cunningham, president and GM, EVault. “As we extend our footprint around the world, we see great value in taking advantage of Windows Azure to help our customers maintain business continuity and ensure their data needs are met anytime and anywhere.”

Windows Azure allows solution providers like EVault to give their customers virtually unlimited capacity and flexibility for backup and recovery to help customers mitigate a wide range of information risks,” said Kim Akers, GM, Developer and Platform Evangelism, Microsoft.

Azure is Microsoft’s cloud platform, helping developers build the next generation of applications that will span from the cloud to the enterprise data center. The platform combines cloud-based developer capabilities with storage, computational and networking infrastructure services, all hosted on Microsoft’s servers.
