Microsemi Reveals Securre-Stor 2.5-Inch SATA SSD
Targeted at commercial security applications, 68GB and 128GB
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on November 1, 2012 at 2:45 pmMicrosemi Corporation (MSCC), provider of semiconductor solutions differentiated by power, security, reliability and performance, introduced SECURRE-Stor, a secure, encrypted 2.5-inch SATA SSD designed to provide data protection for commercial, banking/financial, medical, industrial and smart grid applications.
SECURRE-Stor features a 100 millisecond fast-erase capability, which is followed by a full hardware erase in less than 10 seconds. This makes it a solution for secure laptops, automated teller machines and other systems currently using HDDs that may need to be physically destroyed to prevent data from getting into the wrong hands. SECURRE-Stor has achieved the federal information processing standard (FIPS) AES 256 encryption certification and is available in 64- and 128-gigabyte storage densities.
"SECURRE-Stor is addressing needs for secure SSDs beyond strong encryption in applications where protecting data is considered critical," said BJ Heggli, VP of strategic development and assistant GM for Microsemi. "In addition to secure storage products, Microsemi has an industry-leading security portfolio that includes FPGAs, SoCs, cryptography and a full range of security-related services. We will continue to focus on strengthening our offering with new solutions for applications where security is non-negotiable and reliability is vital."
About SECURRE-Stor
