Aberdeen Adding PCIe 3.0 Support

To servers and NAS

Aberdeen LLC added PCIe 3.0 support to its Stirling servers and AberNAS storage solutions.

This means every new model will support the latest PCIe 3.0 controllers
with a bus that provides up to two times the bandwidth of the previous
models. This will enable customers to benefit from the upcoming PCIe 3.0
controllers such as RAID, HBA, Fibre Storage and multi-port 10GbE
Network controllers at their full speed by taking advantage of the
functionality provided by the Intel E5-2600, Sandy Bridge-EP processors.

When it comes to storage solutions, it all starts with capacity.
Aberdeen’s product lineup offers options for customers. Products come in
1U to 8U form factors with 4, 12, 16, 24, 36, 48, or 64 drive bays
depending on the model chosen. Every system supports enterprise HDDs up
to 4TB per drive, thus delivering 256TB of capacity in a single device.

The 21 new products which make up this release include 7 new Windows NAS
products featuring Windows Storage Server 2012, 7 new Linux NAS
products featuring 64 bit Linux NAS OS and 7 new Servers running Windows
Server 2012 or a choice of flavors of Linux.

Remote monitoring and management is handled in a efficient manner by the
Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) which is standard in
all models. This functionality is enhanced by including a dedicated, Out
of Band, IPMI RJ45 LAN port, which means the server’s hardware can be
monitored and managed without taking up a chunk of the storage array’s
bandwidth. This feature also delivers the facility for users to manage
the system from a remote location, even if it’s powered off, which means
you can restart or power on the server or NAS while away from the data
center.

With form factors ranging from a 1U 4Bay up to an 8U 64Bay, up to 256TB
of storage, E5-2600 processors, up to 512GB of memory, Dual onboard
10GbE or 1GbE ports, PCIe 3.0, a dedicated IPMI port, JBOD expansion
capabilities and redundant hot-pluggable power supplies, Stirling
servers and AberNAS storage systems are a choice for the IT user.
