GreenQloud
announced the launch of two clean IaaS cloud solutions, Compute
Qloud
and Storage
Qloud,
at DEMO Fall 2012.
The company has two
primary goals: make the IT industry more sustainable and to make the
cloud easy to use. Using efficient hardware they are a
cloud IaaS provider powered by 100% renewable energy.
It offers scalable,
secure and distributed performance servers and on-demand storage
as well as a management console. The APIs are compatible with the
most widely used IaaS clouds, making migration to its greener
services simple.
The Compute Qloud
service can be utilized for server and application deployment while
Storage Qloud is best for file management and backup storage,
featuring drag and drop multi-file uploads.
The GreenQloud
management console enables customers to monitor usage statistics,
server load graphs, bandwidth stats, the number of servers running,
total storage used, estimated billing.
The Truly Green dashboard in
the management console allows customers to monitor energy metrics and
carbon emissions savings, which can be used to augment a company’s
existing sustainability program.
"GreenQloud
is building services to eliminate the time intensive management of
data infrastructure – freeing valuable financial and human resources
that can be redirected towards business growth,"
said Eirikur Hrafnsson, co-founder and chief global strategist,
GreenQloud. "Equally
important, GreenQloud is providing cloud services that reduce the IT
industry’s significant and increasing dependence on fossil fuel
powered energy grids and data centers."
"Uses
for Cloud Computing are evolving rapidly, especially as the
technology has moved from practical applications only for the
enterprise to broad use for SMBs and the consumer,"
said Matt Marshall, executive producer of DEMO.
