Arkivum Rolls Out OSCAR Archiving Solution

Long-term cloud storage within corporate firewall

Spin-out from the University of Southampton, Arkivum Limited is to launch OSCAR (On-Site Cloud Archive), a cloud archiving solution for organisations that need to store data onsite, at this year’s IP EXPO on 17 and 18 October, London’s Earls Court 2.

It will be presented during a series of Arkivum on-stand seminars.

The all-in-one pod solution offers Arkivum’s data integrity within a corporate firewall, making it for organisations required by law or regulation to store all information on premise. Managed remotely, OSCAR provides the same level of service as Arkivum’s off-site cloud-based solution.

Jim Cook, Arkivum CEO, says: "There are many organisations with vast amounts of data, but they are bound by law or regulation to store this onsite, which is proving a barrier for those wishing to use the cloud. OSCAR solves this dilemma by offering a fully managed 100% safe archiving solution within a corporate firewall."

The seminars at IP EXPO will include:

  • An Introduction to Archiving looks at how archiving differs from backup, and what to look for in an archive service (Running 17 October at 10h00 and 15h30, and 18 October at 14h00)
  • Implementing an Archiving Policy examines the challenges of gaining buy-in internally within a company and will provide vital advice on deciding what specific data to archive (Running 17 October at 11h30 and 18 October at 10h00 and 15h30)
  • Onsite Archiving explores OSCAR (Running 17 October at 14h00 and 18 October at 11h30)

"Data is growing at an exponential rate and compliance means that many businesses are being forced to retain data for considerable lengths of time," explains Jim. "More and more companies are looking for the most effective long term storage solutions and these short seminars will provide those businesses attending IP EXPO with everything they need to know about the basics of archiving.

"We pride ourselves on our knowledge and understanding in keeping data safe and secure over the long term. Archiving is the way forward for dealing with the data volume explosion and, as many organisations have discovered, it can have a radical impact on both storage costs and productivity
