Upgrading PC With SSD Improve Performance by 82%

Test from Dennis Technology Labs commissioned by Kingston

Kingston
Digital
Europe
Ltd
commissioned an independent test that shows how upgrading a PC with
an SSD provides the best price/performance ratio when comparing with
other types of common upgrades.

A Kingston SSDNow V+200 can improve the performance of a PC by 82%.
To make the selection of the right SSD more accessible Kingston has
launched ‘The
Kingston
SSD
selector
tool‘,
a step-by-step guide for beginners enabling them to choose the best
SSD for their PC or laptop.

UK-based Dennis
Technology
Labs
undertook the test to determine how much an SSD can boost the
performance of a PC compared to other more common upgrades, such as
adding more memory or installing a faster processor. The objective
was to identify which upgrade gave the biggest boost per pound spent.

The conclusion was that pound for pound, the SSDNow V+200 provided
the best value upgrade at a cost of £1.88% point of increase. The
value of every other upgrade made when combined with the SSD
increased compared to an HDD. A CPU costs more than £53.96 per percentage point of
increase when combined with an HDD but only £4.11 when combined with
the SSD

Replicating a series of everyday computing functions, the tests
showed that the SSD had an impact on boot times making it almost 2.5x faster to boot than a standard HDD. Getting started and accessing a
working desktop becomes a breeze, especially for consumers who are
working on the go or are even extreme PC users such as content
creators or gamers. Regular users of Word and Outlook applications benefit from an SSD with Word loading up to 2.5 times faster
and Outlook loading up to almost 5 times faster compared to a
standard HDD.

"There has never been a better time to invest in SSD
technology. The price having reached below £1/GB not only makes SSDs more affordable but as
the test shows, they are in fact the best value/performance upgrade
", says
Kirsty Miller, Consumer Marketing manager EMEA. She continues "At Kingston, we aim to make SSD
upgrades easy for the consumer with our installation kits. During these financially
challenging times, consumers can enjoy an enhanced computing experience and
significant boost in performance with an SSD upgrade without having to purchase a new
PC
".

Kingston also launched the Kingston SSD Selector tool, which
enhances the wealth of information available to consumers to
demystify SSD technology making it easier to adopt for consumers. The
SSD tool is allows consumers to choose from the highest performing
SSD or the best value for money.

Launching Kingston’s Dedicated to performance campaign offers a
informations to consumers including online video and user experiences
with detailed case studies. Limited special offer prices will be
running throughout Q4 to make upgrading to SSD easier.
