New Infortrend’s EonNAS 1000 Series
2U/8-bay and 2U/12-bay rackmount
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on October 4, 2012 at 3:00 pmInfortrend Technology, Inc. announced two additions to its EonNAS 1000 Series – the EonNAS 1310 and 1510 feature 2U/8-bay and 2U/12-bay rackmount form factors respectively.
The additions offer unified storage solutions that help SMB users optimize file sharing, IP SAN applications, storage and backup.
While competing NAS solutions allocate resources and bandwidth to multimedia platforms – which include consumer-focused applications for viewing photos and playing music and videos – IEonNAS 1000 Series is designed to protect mission critical business data. Rather than allocating space to consumer-focused features, the announced solutions bring SMBs enterprise, data protection features including data de-duplication and compression for optimized resource utilization and the ZFS file system for end-to-end data integrity. Data is further protected by features such as unlimited snapshot capability, which offers space-efficient differential data copies to rollback data or restore files in the event of data errors.
William Chen, director of the EonNAS product line for Infortrend, noted: "The two new additions to the EonNAS 1000 Series further our efforts to bring enterprise class data protection features to SMB customers. These are serious NAS servers – they don’t include low-end, consumer-focused entertainment applications – they mean business. Our business customers have said to us time and time again that entertainment features are unnecessary and counterproductive. As such, we are completely focused on offering advanced data protection features – the features that protect what is valuable to businesses – at a price point designed for cost-conscious customers. All of the rest is just a distraction."
As part of EonNAS family, the new solutions offer protocol support, enabling SMB users to serve file-based and block-based applications with a single device and achieve file sharing among Windows, Mac and Linux/Unix workstations in the office.
The EonNAS 1310 features an Intel Celeron dual-core 2.5GHz processor, 2GB DDR3 RAM and two GbE LAN ports. With eight drive bays, storage capacity can reach 24TB.
The EonNAS 1510 delivers better performance with an Intel Core i3 dual-core 3.3GHz processor, up to 8GB DDR3 RAM and two Gigabit LAN ports, while users can reach a storage capacity of 36TB with 12 available drive bays. In addition, the it offers extended connectivity options, including six GbE LAN ports (EonNAS 1510-1) and two GbE LAN ports plus two 10GbE LAN ports (EonNAS 1510-2).
