Bocada Supports Virtual and Physical Data Protection Analysis and Reporting

Bocada Inc. announced that it is the only vendor supporting both virtual and physical data protection analysis and reporting for Symantec Backup Exec 2012, in order to provide customers in-depth visibility, troubleshooting, capacity planning and SLA management to improve data protection operations.
 
Backup Exec 2012 is an integrated product that protects virtual and physical environments, simplifying both backup and DR. Powered by Symantec V-Ray technology, it restores entire servers, critical Microsoft applications, and VMware or Microsoft Hyper-V virtual environments to minimise business downtime.

Bocada’s vpConnect Data Protection Service Management solution is a complement, providing users the visibility into backup activity across virtual and physical servers, automating administrative tasks and helping users better manage resources in the data protection environment.
 
vpConnect is an integrated data protection service management solution for managing physical and virtual environments, bridging the gap between physical and virtual data protection operations. Bocada has integrated its agentless, Bocada Prism solution, which provides in-depth backup and recovery health and capacity reporting, policy analysis and SLA management for physical environments, with its Bocada Vision solution for virtual environments.
 
Vision is a solution focused on managing the complexities of backup and recovery in virtual environments. It correlates backup and snapshot activity with VMware vCentre configuration data to help ensure VMs are protected and recoverable, ensure effective capacity use and lower administrative costs.

Customers using Backup Exec 2012 for physical backup only can implement Prism; when they move to protecting virtual servers with their Backup Exec 2012 solution a simple licence key change turns on the virtual reporting functionality of vpConnect without additional changes to the environment.
