Violin Memory in OEM Agreement With VMware
vSphere running natively on SSD Arrays
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on October 2, 2012 at 3:01 pmViolin Memory, Inc. announced an OEM agreement with VMware, offering virtualization-in-a-box to enterprise customers.
This enables companies to run business critical and big data applications at the speed of memory in virtualized and cloud environments.
By running vSphere natively on Violin’s flash Memory Arrays, customers can put business critical applications directly on Violin’s system to get storage performance without worrying about the configuration or management of traditional storage networks. Faster data transactions enable businesses to make real-time decisions that benefit the company’s bottom line.
"Violin has identified the virtualization challenges with disk-based storage infrastructures and set out to eliminate those barriers using flash," said Narayan Venkat, VP of products for Violin Memory. "By partnering with VMware, we enable our customers to achieve their goal of a fully virtualized data center. This is one of the many steps we’ve taken to apply the benefits of flash to virtualized environments, and create specialized application acceleration appliances like Virtual Database-in-a-box, Private Cloud-in-a-box and VDI-in-a-box."
According to Parag Patel, VP of Global Strategic Alliances for VMware, "Embedding industry-leading VMware technology empowers companies such as Violin Memory to increase the value of solutions provided to customers. By partnering with VMware, Violin Memory can deliver fully contained and simplified virtualization solutions based on VMware technology."
VMware embedded OEM partners are provided a way to bundle VMware products into their solutions. Working with VMware, Violin Memory is realizing increased control of virtualized deployments, tailored to its specific go-to-market and ongoing post-sales support preferences.
