Cleveland IT Provider CRU Solutions Offers Backup as a Service

To restore data in event of emergency

Cleveland IT services provider CRU Solutions delivers Backup as a Service (BaaS) to its Managed IT Services clients.

BaaS provides better data security and substantially improves the ability to restore data in the event of an emergency compared to tape or disk backups.

"Tape or disk backups were the best option before the development of reliable online backup services," says Jim Kerr, president of CRU Solutions."Among the weaknesses of tape or disk backups are that they rely on employees handling the media, and the media itself must be stored securely. Employee error or a poor storage location can result in failed backups or damaged media. Either of these situations means that the most recent backup could be unusable for DR."

To help mitigate these problems, CRU Solutions now offers Backup as a Service. The BaaS appliance is onsite, so it replaces whatever backup method the client is currently using. In addition, it offers automatic offsite replication for an offsite backup in case of emergency.

Backup as a Service does not require staff time to manage tapes or disks, and provides more recent restore points than the end of the previous workday, automatic offsite replication, and the ability to recover from the offsite image for DR.

CRU Solutions fully manages the backup appliance and backup process, creating unattended backups on an hourly, two-hour, four-hour or daily basis with multiple restore points. The service includes ongoing monitoring and offsite replication.

With BaaS, clients can return to work faster in the event of data loss or network interruption.
