IBM Acquires UK Company Butterfly Software
In analysis and migration of backup and storage data

Financial terms were not disclosed.
Butterfly will become part of IBM’s Software Group.
Butterfly offers storage planning software and storage migration tools, helping companies save storage space, operational time, IT budget and power consumption. IBM will use Butterfly to help clients find new ways to drive value from its storage software and hardware solutions.

Butterfly was founded in January 2009 by CTO Ian Smith is CTO,CSO Tom Hughes and COO Craig Moore.
It is partnering with companies including IBM, EMC, Dell and HP and is distributed via Arrow ECS.
