Synology Presents DiskStation DS413 …

Synology Inc. launched DiskStation DS413, a 4-bay NAS server that incorporates technologies to minimize power consumption.

It is for SMBs to centralize backups and synchronize files across different platforms with minimum time and effort.

"Synology DS413 has emerged as an emblem of eco-friendly design and innovation, providing businesses with energy efficient data management solutions," said Jones Tsai, director of Hardware Design at Synology.

In hibernation mode, the DS413 consumes 3.3 watts, and can be brought back to operation within seconds via web access. In this mode, fans and hard drives also come to a halt, creating a quiet working environment. It consumes 13 watts and 35.6 watts respectively during hard drive hibernation and in operation.

The DS413 is one of the first NAS servers to deploy Freescale Semiconductor, Inc.‘s QorIQ Processor platform. With 1GB of RAM, this combination enables performance, sleep power management, and improved multitasking performance.

DS413 features encryption from a platform upgrade and a hardware encryption engine that achieves read and write speeds of 46.81MB/s and 23.46MB/s respectively in 256-bit AES.

Non-encrypted performance at read and write speeds is 111.12MB/s and 80.86MB/s respectively under RAID-5 configuration. To ensure services uptime, the DS413 incorporates reliability technologies including passive CPU cooling, two redundant 92mm system fans, and hot-swappable drives.

It is powered by DiskStation manager 4.1 (DSM 4.1), the OS of every Synology DiskStation and RackStation that provides rich features to boost user-productivity and simplify their tasks, all on a sleek interface optimized for multitasking.
