Rezolve Group Replaces Five Data Protection Systems With Actifio

This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on September 20, 2012 at 3:09 pmActifio, Inc. announced results
of its implementation with Rezolve Group,
Inc., a technology and services company that helps
students plan how to pay for an education and helps colleges and other schools
communicate value and affordability.
More than $227 billion in aid is available to 15 million students for
postsecondary education during the 2012-13 academic year.
All aspects of Rezolve Group’s business are data driven, including
critical and time sensitive personal and financial information. With the
intense, deadline driven processes of applying for financial aid, constant and
secure access to the company’s database is essential for applicants looking to
make important decisions that impact their education and financial future.
"Managing enterprise data (including
email, file and databases) that were growing between 30 to 50% each year became
a major challenge that was aggravated by the need to manage multiple copies of
that data," said Rezolve Group’s CIO Robert Reeder. "We used a number of different point
solutions for functions including backup, snapshots and mirroring. It was a
complicated, but an essential solution because keeping several copies of our
data was the only way I’d be able to sleep at night."
Actifio’s Protection and Availability Storage (PAS) solution helped Rezolve Group
manage its copy data explosion. PAS eliminates siloed data-protection
applications, virtualizing data management to deliver an application-centric,
SLA-driven solution that decouples the management of data from storage, network
and server infrastructure. As a result, Rezolve Group can recover anything for up to 90% less cost than its legacy backup and recovery methods.
"Actifio is a game changer,"
Reeder said. "One Actifio device
replaces five tools, drastically reducing total cost of ownership. If I need
to, I can quickly recover data from any point in time, from either of our
datacenters on the East or West coast."
Rezolve’s data is secure against website outages or disasters because Actifio
is backing up both data center locations in Massachusetts and California. If
one site becomes unusable, Actifio ensures the all data is available at the
other site. Actifio also provides the granularity for Rezolve Group to track
database and file version histories. If work is lost or needs to be rolled
back, the data can be recovered.
"Because of all the siloed data
backup and recovery applications, businesses have been making copy after copy
of their production data. They’re now spending more to protect copies of their
data than they are to protect their data. We think that’s crazy," said
Ash Ashutosh, founder and CEO of Actifio. "With PAS 5.0, enterprises such as Rezolve Group create and maintain a
single copy of everything in their production environment at a fraction of the
cost, while gaining the ability to recover data within seconds."
