Cache-A Unveils Next Gen Prime-Cache5 Archive Appliance

This next-generation version of Prime-Cache5 is quiet-enough for both office and on-set use and, in addition to a toughened chassis, it features a built-in 2.5-inch HDD RAID-0, that accelerates disk-based transfer speeds. These enhancements are made more impressive with Cache-A’s latest v3.1 software upgrade, based on 64-bit enterprise level CentOS 6.2, adding new LTFS capabilities, delivering further leaps in performance and operability.
Prime-Cache5 archive appliance was the company’s first product introduction, delivering the features needed to provide professionals in film and video with networkable LTO-tape storage systems at an affordable price. This next-generation delivers a step forward in enhancing its capabilities in office and on-set production environments, while remaining compact and quiet.
Highlights of the new Prime-Cache5 include:
- reinforced metal chassis;
- 2.5-inch RAID-0 provides disk bandwidth that doubles the disk throughput of previous models;
- new v3.1 software, featuring accelerated 64-bit processing, high-speed LTFS dubbing, plus new LTFS tape-spanning capabilities, and
- a host of customer-driven operational features allowing users to archive, access and exchange archived content with greater ease.
Prime Cache5 integrates into file-based workflows, and its connectivity options include, a dual GbE port, plus two USB 3.0 ports and four USB 2.0 ports.
The built-in catalog database enables to remember every single Cache-A tape it has ever seen, and can be shared with all other Cache-A appliances on a network.
At 10.75" x 4.4" x 10.75" (273mm x 112mm x 273mm) the Prime-Cache5, and associated cabling can fit inside a small case for safe transportation.
