Novosoft
LLC.
announced an update to its online backup service.
The update brings functionality for
service compatibility with Amazon Glacier, the cloud storage.
Following Glacier’s philosophy of abandoning tape as backup media,
Handy Backup brings features beyond low prices for cloud storage.
"I
do like your service’s backup features, but how much will it cost to
back up my companies 25 computers on a regular basis, with the online
backup recurring billing, clients used to ask us. However, those
questions are becoming a history. With the cost-efficient solutions
for cloud storage like Amazon Glacier, finally it is the set of handy
backup features which becomes a key factor for a client to choose a
backup solution. The demand for a product increases when the prices
of its complements decrease. Investing in powerful online backup
functionality and service compatibility with the most efficient
storage is what heavily contributes to the recent increase Handy
Backup’s online backup service popularity,"
said Aleks Dolgushev, the head of Handy Backup Business Development
Department.
The announcement of the update
covered the service’s data transfer speed, storage pricing, and
customization opportunities.
What concerns data transfer speeds,
the representative of Handy Backup claimed the speeds delivered by
the service to be in the first lines. The speeds were made possible
by proprietary algorithms of transferring data developed by Novosoft
programmers and the principles of copying only the file differences
to the cloud. The last one relies on the principle that the software
can be installed on the actual cloud servers in a data center and
interacts with the client console on the user side.
The Handy Backup cloud storage
pricing is now claimed to be more flexible and scalable. Besides the
pricing, every client can request individual price plan, optimized
for the particular IT infrastructure (the number of computers, data
capacity, backup regularity, etc.).
The online backup update followed
the announcement of Glacier, the cloud storage designed to hold data
accessed infrequently but needs to be maintained for legal reasons or
future reference, such as financial or healthcare records.
The
cost of storing data in Amazon Glacier starts
from $0.011/GB per month
for the EU-West region and up
to 10TB can be stored for $0.12
per month.
