Paragon
Software
Group
announced experiencing a growth in demand from Android
and Linux mobile and embedded device manufacturers for its
cross-platform exFAT,
NTFS,
and
HFS+
driver
technology.
Their OEM program has seen requirements to specify its
cross-platform Universal File System Driver (UFSD) technology grow as
a result of consumer demand for Android-powered Smart
TVs/Monitors/Set Top Boxes, Smartphones, Tablets and connected
devices, which support SDXC cards and Windows/Mac USB drives.
Over 10 years ago, Paragon recognized a need for UFSD technology to
provide cross-platform access to all of the file systems under
diverse platforms (Android, Linux, Windows, and Mac) where these file
systems are not natively supported – while maintaining data
integrity. Paragon’s technology bridges the gap between file system
and the various OSs or embedded kernels in the market.
Representative
UFSD Tier 1 OEM Paragon customers for Android- and Linux-based
devices include top manufacturers such as the following:
- Acer
- ASUS
- Buffalo
- Cisco Systems
- Hitachi Ltd.
- NETGEAR
- Logitech
- LG Electronics
- Western Digital
- EMC/Iomega
- Seagate
- Lenovo
"Paragon has been a strong partner for Buffalo; their
first-class OEM support as well as the superior performance and
features of their technology are key reasons we have chosen PSG for
our Smart Box project," said Kentaro Odaka, GM of Product
Development Div. at Buffalo Inc.
Paragon proved its leadership in cross-platform technology with
millions of satisfied end users worldwide. Compared to alternatives,
its portfolio of Android and Linux drivers provide data
throughput performance combined with data protection capabilities to
ensure file system integrity – even in the case of unsafe removal of
the storage device or a power outage. A feature set complimented by
chip set support from Intel,
Nvidia and Qualcomm to Marvell Semiconductor, Realtek Semiconductor,
PLX Technology, Cavium Networks, and Applied Micro has propelled
Paragon to be the standard in cross-platform file sharing for the
mobile device and embedded system marketplace segments.
"The Paragon driver’s performance on our ARMADA 1500 DMP
platform was very compelling and it enhanced the value of the
platform," said Edward Silva, Senior product manager at Marvell
Semiconductor. "We look forward to promoting it to our
customers."
"We continue to be impressed with the variety of devices
utilizing our driver technology that our OEMs and chip manufacturers
are bringing to market; from next-generation smart phones and smart
TVs to tablets, set-top boxes and advanced digital media players.
It’s a very exciting time for the company," said Tom Fedro,
president of Paragon.
