As silver member
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on September 6, 2012 at 3:01 pmInktank Storage, Inc., provider enterprise support for the Ceph open source distributed storage system, has joined the Linux Foundation as a silver member.
As a member, Inktank will collaborate with developers and enterprises to meet growing storage needs through open source technology.
Inktank has long collaborated with the Linux community through its stewardship of Ceph, the open source storage system that combines object storage, block storage, and a file system in one highly scalable, distributed platform.
Ceph was integrated into the Linux kernel in 2010.
"Ceph is a leading distributed storage technology and is integrated into the Linux kernel," said Amanda McPherson, VP, Marketing and Developer Programs, Linux Foundation. "We are pleased to welcome Inktank as one of our newest members and important advocate for the Ceph project and look forward to continued collaboration to advance Linux and storage technologies."
"The Ceph Distributed Storage System has been included in the mainline Linux kernel for several years. This inclusion has been one of the primary catalysts for Ceph’s global proliferation," said Bryan Bogensberger, president and COO at Inktank. "Through our partnership with the Linux Foundation, we look forward to further establishing the role of open source technologies in addressing the world’s exploding data storage needs."
Inktank was present at the Linux Foundation’s CloudOpen conference to be held August 29-31, 2012 in San Diego, CA.
