Promise Introduces 3TB HDD for Pegasus R6

PROMISE Technology Inc. introduced a 3TB drives for the Pegasus R6 – expanding capacity to 18TBs.

The expanded capacity addresses the performance and storage needs
demanded by video editors and creative professionals who want to increase the
amount of digital assets they can ingest, edit or playback including multiple
streams of uncompressed HD (10-bit and 12-bit) video.

With this increased capacity, the company also announced a price
reduction for their Pegasus R6 12TB units. The increased availability of HDDs
due to the stabilization of the recently volatile market has resulted in lower
costs for drives.

This expanded capacity affords greater protection of valuable
workflows, audio sessions and other media content on-location or in the edit
suite while leveraging the dynamic increase in flexibility and performance. The
Pegasus family of storage offerings is compatible with OS X Mountain Lion.

Designed from scratch for media and entertainment customers and
compatible with Thunderbolt enabled Macs, Pegasus R6 offers speed and
throughput in a form factor small enough for a desktop or on-location
environment. Utilizing Thunderbolt technology high-speed I/O, Pegasus R6 can
deliver over 900MB/s of performance, more than 3 times faster than USB 3.0, 20
times faster than USB 2.0 and 12 times faster than FireWire 800. The Pegasus R6
3TB Model provides 18TB of raw capacity (15TB formatted with HFS+) in RAID-5.

The PROMISE Pegasus family is also available in 4 and 6-bay
configurations with either 4TB or 12TB of raw capacity.

• Pegasus R6 12TB units are  available with an MSRP of $2,299. They are available
