Nexsan in Partnership With Cumulus Systems

For seven-day, free virtual infrastructure optimization analysis

Nexsan Corporation, announced a partnership with Cumulus Systems, Inc., a
supplier of virtual and physical infrastructure optimization solutions, to
provide a free, seven-day assessment of the performance of their VMware
environments.

As virtual environments and the data associated with them continue to grow, this
assessment allows organizations to understand what configuration changes are
needed to allow their environments to run more efficiently. The free assessment
offer is available through December, 2012.

Deploying VMware provides savings and increased
utilization of hardware assets through consolidation. However it also creates
challenges in sizing the servers and storage according to application
performance needs. Cumulus Systems’ MARS product granularly measures
performance over a period of time for an entire virtual environment from the
server through the storage, analyzes the data and recommends solutions. Nexsan
delivers the balance in performance and cost for VMware environments
with its NST line of Unified Hybrid storage solutions.

NST systems deliver up to 54,000 IOPS for $.65/GB, are
expandable to over 1PB of capacity, and are qualified for vSphere 4
and vSphere 5. Nexsan Unified Hybrid Storage systems use a combination of
memory technologies to implement a large cache with performance for both
reads and writes. The NST Hybrid caching optimizes performance by utilizing DRAM, NVRAM, and flash-based SSD as a single
pool resulting with price/performance ratios. The caching layer is used
in conjunction with spinning media to deliver the memory based speeds with the
price and capacity of spinning disk. The systems deliver unified block and file
interfaces, sending both types of traffic through the NST5000 controllers.

MARS collects granular data from VMs, servers, storage and the
network at the minute level. The product is designed to capture the data over long periods of time in manner requiring
minimal storage space. This data is then analyzed to ensure compliance with
VMware best practices, highlight exceptions and recommend solutions for
efficiency and performance improvements. Additional reports are created on
demand showing the configuration and performance metrics on each of the
components to allow administrators to define bottlenecks and put a plan in
place to remedy them.

"Understanding your
environment in order to maximize performance in the most economical way is a
hallmark of Nexsan,
" said Victoria Grey, SVP of marketing, Nexsan.
"Combining a tool such as Cumulus
MARS to analyze your infrastructure with highly cost-effective NST storage
ensures the performance, capacity and density to meet the needs of the most
demanding VMware environments.
