iomart Group Using EMC Avamar Backup Software

EMC Corporation
announced that iomart Group plc is provisioning the EMC Avamar deduplication backup software and system to strengthen its cloud-based
backup-as-a-service offering for enterprise and SME customers across its main
hosting brands.

This includes services provided to customers through iomart Group
subsidiaries, iomart Hosting and RapidSwitch, as well as its cloud services
channel brand Westcoastcloud.

They are using Avamar to underpin its enterprise managed backup
solution to customers on-site and off-site, backed by SLAs. The group is also
offering Avamar as part of its channel proposition to increase availability of
the enterprise back-up solution and the variety of software support.

Customer Benefits:

• Increased performance: Data deduplication reduces customers backup time by only storing
  unique daily changes; this also optimises the bandwidth necessary for
  individual backups and reduces network traffic.

• Fast, single-step recovery: Customers can recover entire backups, individual files or directories
  immediately.

  customers through an Internet-based interface which supports a range of OS and

After noticing a trend in the market, and increasing customer demand
for cloud-based backup services, iomart focused on developing a backup solution

selection process. After evaluating a number of solutions, iomart chose Avamar
because it offered a cost-effective and resilient backup solution with
simplified management for employees and customers.

For customers, the Avamar-powered service provides responsive
and secure enterprise data backup and recovery, as well as a user-experience delivered via a web-based interface. Customers are able to
backup large amounts of data online without having to make a capital investment
to do so – and the process is quick: Data is deduplicated and only the unique
daily changes are stored, reducing bandwidth requirements. In the event of data
recovery, the program features a one-step process through which entire backups,
individual files or directories can be accessed.

Avamar’s API has been integrated with control panels
and is currently being rolled out across the Group.
