Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust Selecting FileTek Through Cristie
For storage of healthcare PACS information
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on August 21, 2012 at 2:55 pmFileTek, Inc., a provider of
large-scale data management, big data storage virtualization, and active
archive solutions, announced that Worcestershire
Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, a group of three major British hospitals that
provide healthcare services across Worcestershire and beyond, has
evaluated, selected, and implemented a StorHouse active archive system to
secure, protect, and provide access to expanding clinical information assets,
including picture archive and communications system (PACS) data.
As an active archive platform, StorHouse is the key component of a
complete data management, secure archive, and SAN expansion project delivered
to Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust by Cristie Data Limited as a
managed service agreement.
Cristie, which recommended implementing StorHouse as part of a wider data
management strategy, has been supplying storage, backup, and virtualization
solutions to Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust for approximately ten
years. It has deployed StorHouse across
three hospitals, Alexandra, Kidderminster, and Worcestershire Royal, with
primary and backup data stored at Worcestershire and Kidderminster.
"Having secure storage and assured
access to PACS-related images is a major part of our commitment to providing
outstanding care to the patient communities we serve," commented Peter
Lowe, Centralized IT services manager for Worcestershire Health IT Services.
"To ensure this commitment, we were
looking for a cost-effective way to store our growing volume of PACS data while
safeguarding its security, availability, and accessibility for the long-term.
Going live with our new secure archive managed service and StorHouse active
archive platform enables us to meet these important enterprise objectives."
"FileTek’s primary goal
is to ensure customers achieve data assurance and access at the lowest possible
cost per TB of storage," remarked Ann Dyball, European channel manager,
at FileTek. "And the StorHouse
deployment at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust remains true to this
mission. With StorHouse as the active archive infrastructure of its new secure
archive managed service, Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust can reduce IT
costs, lower system administration and operational overhead, and eliminate timely
restores by re-acquiring all PACS data in real-time directly from StorHouse
using existing applications – all while continuing to deliver leading-edge
patient care."
